ADMISSION

Thank you for your interest in Kids Haven Montessori School.

Kids Haven Montessori offers a curriculum grounded in the Montessori philosophy, emphasizing individualized learning and fostering a love for discovery. Our program spans from the Early Childhood Education level through Primary and Secondary, guiding students through their academic journey with an emphasis on holistic development. We provide a well-rounded approach to education, incorporating subjects such as Mathematics, Literacy, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Language Studies (including French), tailored to each child’s learning style and pace.

Our Early Years pupils (Nursery – Class 2) engage in a developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on fostering independence, critical thinking, and creativity. The Montessori method ensures that every child’s needs are met, while also connecting their learning experiences to the local community and culture.

Additionally, we offer a unique boarding experience for students in Grades 7–12. Our weekly boarding program invites students to return home at the end of each week (Fridays) and return to the boarding house on Sunday afternoons, ready to begin the next week’s academic activities. Throughout the school year, there are occasional weekend stays for extended learning, including academic support, leadership activities, and hands-on experiential learning opportunities. These weekends are planned in advance, and parents are informed accordingly. During these weekends, students remain at the boarding house for activities rather than going home.

THE PROCESS

The Admissions Process at Kids Haven Montessori School

Stage 1: Completion of Forms – Parental Enquiry Form and Application Form

Parents or guardians begin the process by completing the Parental Enquiry Form and Application Form, both of which are available in digital format through the Office of Admissions. These forms must be filled out and submitted online; handwritten, printed, scanned, or photographed copies are not accepted.

The registration fee is $100 (USD), payable in Ghanaian cedis at the prevailing exchange rate. Payment can be made online, through the bank into the Kids Haven Montessori School Account, or via POS (point of sale) at the school. No other payments are required at this stage.

Important Note: The school cannot proceed with the application process without confirmation of successful completion of the above requirements.

Once the completed Application Form is received, it is reviewed by the Admissions Team. If necessary, this review may involve consultations with the Academic Team, the School Counselor, and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).

Stage 2: Entrance Assessments

Admissions to Kids Haven Montessori School require a successful entrance assessment, an interview with the child and parent(s), and a comprehensive evaluation of prior school reports. This includes a confidential report from the applicant’s current school Principal. These measures ensure the school can meet the educational needs of the child.

Entrance assessments are conducted in February and March for admission in September. However, late admissions for international applicants may be arranged between August and December if required.

Key details regarding entrance assessments:

  • English is the medium of instruction; hence, all assessments are conducted in English.
  • Students applying for Year 3 and above are assessed in Maths and English.
  • Applicants for advanced classes may be assessed in additional subjects such as Science or an optional language (e.g., French or Spanish).
  • Non-resident applicants may have assessments conducted in their country of residence, coordinated with the applicant’s current school, subject to the discretion of the Admissions Office.

Note: Entry into advanced levels does not typically require entrance exams. Candidates are instead required to submit relevant academic results (e.g., IGCSE or equivalent).

Stage 3: Decision on Admission

The Principal will make the final decision regarding offers of admission.

Following the assessment, interview, and review of the confidential report, parents will receive email notification regarding the admission decision.

Stage 4: Submission of Documentation and Payment of Fees

Upon acceptance, parents are provided with a list of required documentation, such as medical reports, food allergy forms, and the school’s rules and regulations agreement. Deadlines for submission will be communicated.

Once all documents are received, invoices for admission and tuition fees will be issued. Payments must be made directly into the school’s official account, and proof of payment must be submitted to the school.

Stage 5: Orientation and School Prospectus

After enrollment is complete, parents will receive the Kids Haven Montessori School Prospectus and additional resources to prepare for the school year.

The Office of Admissions organizes orientation sessions to welcome new families, providing key information about school policies, routines, and expectations.
